Batam Family Week

Our final vacation for this year. We joined the Borrero's in their Family Week at Batam, Indonesia. There was a whole bunch of us on the trip so it was really a blast even though it was just a short one-night stay. There were the three of us (me, Lani and Ethan), the Borrero's (ka Rani, Mari, Marlo, Marnell, and Mara), the Regalado siblings (Don and Crystel), Haydee, Shadel, and Jezamel.

We stayed at the Batam View Beach Resort which is a lovely place. It was somewhat secluded but had most of the aminities you'd need - several restaurants, including one just by the sea, pools, water sports, even children's playgounds.

It was a bit of a challenge organizing this because there were so many of us. Had to book multiple rooms in the hotel, get multiple ferry tickets, then book a minibus to transport us all together. But it was fun though.

Here's how it went:
  • Dec 26,  Monday
    • We all met at the Sentosa Ferry Terminal for our 10:30am trip.
    • Arrived at Batam just after 12noon
    • Booked a minibus to transport us to the hotel
    • Reached the hotel around 1pm
    • Lunch at the Wangi Melati restaurant near the hotel lobby
    • Spent the entire afternoon swimming in the pool
    • Diner was at the Kelong restaurant at the beach. It was very very windy you'd think the entire bamboo restructure will topple down.
    • Afterwards, we all hanged out at the hotel lobby drinking coffee and eating cheesecake
  • Dec 27, Tuesday
    • Breakfast at the Wangi Melati
    • Following by swimming at the pool and playing in the playground
    • Before lunch, the singles went out to the beach for some water sports (rowing, paddling, bicycle boats)
    • Then checked out in the afternoon for our trip back home
