A Health Scare... Again

Life is truly precious, and short. Yesterday we found out that one of the members passed away after a bout with heart problems. He had a bypass a month prior and were on his way to recovery when he suddenly passed away inside his car. Sad and truly unfortunate. And we’re just thankful that we still have good health despite what we’ve been through over the years.

Until about 12am this morning, when I started having chest pains. It started as gastric pain, you know the type that you’d just burp away. I had the same thing about a week ago and I just slept it off and was fine when I woke up in the morning. But this time it quickly worsened. Started to feel heartburns coming from my mid section towards my right chest and to my back. I couldn’t sleep and I stumbled and rolled on bed for about 2 hours.

Around 2 am, I woke Lani up and asked for medications. She gave me antacids but it didn’t seem to work. She checked my blood pressure and it was an alarming 210/120. After a bit, we decided it was time to go to the hospital.

We headed to Westmead and I was looked at immediately. I was in severe pain. They did ECG but didn’t  see anything alarming. My BP was still very high, but the nurses believe it was because I was in pain. I was given oxycodone along with paracetamol and that got the pain under control. I fell asleep for about an hour. Lani stayed by my side, doing as much work as she could on her iphone because it was looking more and more like we weren’t going to office today.

When I woke up around 6am, i was feeling a lot better.  My BP was down slightly to 174/95 but I didn’t have chest pains anymore. The doctor ordered an X-ray but that didn’t reveal anything unusual. They thought of CT Scan but decided against it because my PERC test suggested a very low likelihood or Pulmonary embolism, which was positive news.

They couldn’t directly pinpoint what was wrong but was not worried that it’s anything serious. They suspect it is food related so we were eventually sent home. At home, I immediately fell asleep after a very long and exhausting morning.
