District Unity Games 2019

What a day!

We just got back from the District Regional Unity Games, the first time this was done here in INC Australia. Our CWS kids were fortunate to have won the regional games in June, so they were brought in to represent the region.

Ethan had been excited of this day. In fact, he's been playing NBA2K with me so he can learn the rules more. He's also been asking me to convince parents to bring their kids to Gold Coast so their team is in-tact. Unfortunately though, it was an 800km journey from Sydney and not everyone could go. So we were left with a small core of Uly the scorer, Miggy the clutch kids, Ethan the intimidator, and 3 fillers (Erin, Charlise, and Benson). Thankfully though, we were able to recruit one of the North Sydney kids, Marcus the brave, a kid has no fear in him - he dives for everything and will shoot over everyone.

The kids managed to defeat their first opponent comfortably, lost their close second game (to the eventual champions), and won by a big margin again on their third and last elimination game.
In the finals, they meet with the team that defeated them earlier - West NSW. This team was loaded with bigger and more experienced kids. But our kids still managed to compete very well. The game went neck and neck up to the last minute. Sadly thought, we lost by 3 points. Nevertheless, we are very proud of our kids.

It had been a long and tiring day, but we have an even longer week ahead of us as we move on to our long-awaited Gold Coast holiday!
