Dolphin Point, Shoalhaven 2020

It's the 2nd weekend of school break and we've been lucky to have been invited by our North Sydney friends for a quick getaway at Dolphin Point, Shoalhaven NSW.

Our friends Denmark Serrano and family, along with Erwin Abinguna and family are staying at a big vacation house just accross Burrill Beach at Shoalhaven. The house had plenty of rooms so we were invited to join in, and of course we can't say no to a holiday. The Serranos are long-time friends since our times in Singapore. They moved to Australia before us and were the ones who guided us when we relocated. They looked after Ethan in our first few months in Sydney when we didn't have Nanay with us yet. And the family also stayed with us for a bit while they were transitioning between Sydney and Brisbane. It was good to spend time with them again.

We left Carlingford on Friday just after work. It was a school holiday weekend so traffic was terrible. What was supposed to be a 3-hour trip ended up being 4.5. But anyway, the trip went fine and were welcomed with a dinner feast along with non-stop laughter and fun, so it was easy to forget the road stress. The kids already knew the other children so they got along quickly. In fact, Erin even chose to sleep in the other family's room so she can be with friend Keiko.

The highlight of the place was the water feature that's right in front of the house. It was were the Burrill Lake met the Burrill Sea. It was serene and peaceful on one side, but rough and wavy on the other. It was beautiful. The kids went for a swim in the lake. It was cold but they we're thrilled. Lani and I walked along the shores, from the lake side to the rocky corridors that the wave smashes into.

The second highlight of the trip was the food of course, which is always fantastic when you have Irene. It was literally a feast every meal.

We spent most of our time in the house, with occasional walks to the sea. Lani and I caught up with the Korean drama while the kids had their unlimited play and screen times.

We went back home on Sunday night bringing with us great memories and happy minds.
