Watch out, the new rockstar is here! :D
I have posted a number of times about Ethan, and even Erin, performing in various church and school events. But most of the time, they are performing as singers. This time is a little different, and I'm extremely happy.
As many of you know, I am a frustrated rockstar. I like playing in a band, and sadly there had not been many opportunities to do just that. Well, maybe not anymore.
It was a yearend celebration for local congregation, and I have been invited to perform. I asked Ethan and Erin to join me but my baby girl declined. Ethan was reluctant but I managed to convince him. So we spent a few nights practicing our song - This Day, an INC original music. I would play guitar and sing verses, while Ethan does the refrains and bridges - which showcases his vocal range.
About 2 days before the actual performance, Erin decided she wanted to join in. But she wanted to play drums instead of sing. I was surprised, I admit, but I was definitely delighted with the thought. So we spent several hours learning the song - me on guitar and Erin on drums. The song was a little progressive, so Erin needed to learn 4 different types of beats - which I'm proud to say she managed to nail - even the fill ins! I was so happy, I even thought of teaching Ethan bass guitar so we can perform as an actual 'band', but that proved a little too hard.
During the actual performance, Erin proved very confident with herself and played really well. Ethan of course wowed the crowd with his singing. I must confess, I missed a few chords on the guitar but I'm very happy with my two kids.
