Ethan didn't want a celebration this year. He says he remember last year on my birthday when all we did was play basketball - he realised then that birthdays can be just an ordinary day and didn't really have to be a big deal. Well, as proud as I am of his realisation, and new-found frugality, Lani and I couldn't let the day pass without even a bit of celebration.
We asked Ethan to invite a few of his closest friends to enjoy a meal at home. Erin invited some of hers too, of course. Lani and I went out to buy from the usual places - and we suddenly have a party.
