Car repair birthday

Terrible weekend for my car. Burned alternator and drained battery in the middle of nowhere in the dead of the night. Well, actually it's at Pasir Ris Drv 3 just before 6am.

It was our Thanksgiving Workship day and we were on our way to Downtown East, Pasir Ris. As I got off the highway, the car's electricals all went down - lights, wiper, aircon, radio, console light, everything. I tried to cruise because we were about 1km away from the venue but then the car's engine stopped. And I couldn't get it to start again.

I was with Nanay, Ailyn, Shadel, ka Rhona, and ka Vangie, and we were all on our formal wears. It was very early so not much taxis yet. Good thing this gentlemen stopped and offered to bring my passengers to the venue. Found out later that he is the CEO of Shalom Movers. After helping my passenger, he went back to where I was and called up his son (ie woke him up at 6am). The son was the GM of Shalom, by the way. They both got their company mechanic to come down pronto and checked my car. All these out of sheer kindness. God bless these people.

Too bad for my car though, it was a dead alternator and the mechanic couldn't do anything about it. They helped me arrange a tow truck and man, was I sad to see my car being towed away. It felt like your loved one being pull inside an ambulance and you just couldn't do anything but watch. I think I cried a little.

Anyway, so I spent today, my birthday, at the workshop waiting for my car. I was like a relative outside the emergency room waiting for the doctor to come out and deliver the good news. A quick $600 pain on my pocket and off I went to celebrate the day. Happy birthday to me, indeed!
