Reviving an LG P500 phone

Lani's LG P500 phone died yesterday while I was using it. Battery drained, I plugged it back in and it was stuck on the LG logo. Tried connecting to PC Suite but to no avail.

So, with the Internet's help, I managed to revive it today.
Here are the step I did, in case someone else fall into the same problem.

The basic instructions came from this thread.

  1. Download the image file for my phone. Each model/country has it's own image file. So make sure you get the right one. For mine (LGP500 from Singapore), it was this file (V10G_00)
  2. Download KDZ updater from here and uncompress it
  3. Install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory
  4. Turn off the phone and disconnect the cable.
  5. Press VOLUME UP + RETURN then plug in the USB cable. This starts the phone on Emergency mode.
  6. Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe.
  7. Select Type : 3GQCT
  8. Select PhoneMode : DIAG
  9. In KDZ file : Choose the ROM file you downloaded in the first step
  10. Press Launch software update and wait (It will be 10 minutes or so). In your phone it will appear "Emergency mode". Wait until it reboots.
That's it.

Despite this though, I would say that the LG P500 is a terrible phone. It's incredibly slow!
