My basketball shoes throughout the years

These new shoes have got me thinking again of all the shoes I've owned in the past. I thought it'd be fun to list them out, so here they are.

  • Adidas Torsion - 1989
This was my very first pair of basketball shoes, having newly discovered the joy of watching the PBA and getting obsessed with my new idol Benjie Paras, PBA's first and only Rookie MVP awardee. Bought at SM City North.
  • Nike Air Jordan XII - 1999
A gift from Tito Toto, straight from Australia. One of the slickest shoes I've owned. This caught a lot of eyes at the basketball court in Bambang, Manila where I used to play almost everyday between 1997 and 2001. These were the shoes Michael Jordan wore on his sixth and last championship campaign.

  • Adidas KB8 (a.k.a Craxy8) - 2000
Kobe Bryant's first signature shoes. I remember buying it quite cheap from one of the shops in Recto because my Jordan XII were already too worn to use.

  • Fila Grant Hill Ninety6 - 2002
Got this one free from the office. We ran a shoe-review column on the Health Today magazine and I volunteered as one of the "tester", thus getting the free shoes.

  • Converse Wade 1.3 - 2006
Giving props to my new idol, Dwyane Wade after the championship season. Bought this one from Suntec City, Singapore.

  • Adidas low-cut cross trainer - 2008
My first ever low-cut shoes. Bought from Parksquare, Makati during our Dec 2008 vacation. It wasn't really meant for basketball. I bought it because I wanted to jog, but I ended up using it for basketball as well.

  • Adidas Thrillrahna - 2009
My favorite shoes of all time. Tricked my sis Jean into buying this for me as a gift when they visited us in Singapore. Bought from Texas, US.

  • Adidas Tip Off - 2011
Needed a real basketball shoe for an INC tournament. Cheapest Adidas I could find at Excelsior Shopping Center, Singapore.

  • Adidas Next Level Speed - 2013
My white Adidas can't take my weight anymore, the toe part already tore off, so I bought this new one. Cheapest one I could find at Rebel Sport, Chatswood, Australia. I thought was fantastic because it didn't look bad at all and the soft leather feels good.
