Hello, Sydney!

Just came back from a week and half visit to our Sydney office. The purpose of the trip were to (1) get acquainted with the team, (2) do some actual work, and (3) impress them so they'd want me there.

Objective 1 was easy. Well not really for an anti-social person like me, but I got through just fine. The Aussies are such nice people. Always greets with a smile. Helps that there are about 5 other Filipinos in the company.

Objective 2 needed a lot of focus but I did quite well. Managed to fix some long-delayed issues with Win7 and their custom software (Alfresco and ARev). Also did an audit and found that some AUD 80k/yr savings can be had if the internet line was replaced with fiber. And I managed to complete a quick mock audit to prepare them for an upcoming formal IT Audit by the parent company.

Objective 3 came by quite naturally also. I did manage to resolve many of their issues, so they were happy.

After 9 days of "living" there, enjoying the sumptuous, but expensive, food choices at St Leonards Station, having a feel of commuting the Sydneysider way, and spending countless Skype time with Lani on my iPhone, I'm now on the Airbus 380 plane on my 8-hr way back home to Singapore.

Well, nothing's official yet. No formal offers on the table as of now, but one thing's for sure, I will be back.

Good job, Daddy!
