NBA everywhere

Ain't this grand! I can now watch NBA on my computer, iPad, iPhone, and just today - the XBOX. Woohoo!

How lucky are we to live in this age of technology? I remember way way way back 1997 when I started following the NBA, particularly the Miami Heat. I was very happily contented with the "live cast" on NBA.com's website which was nothing but an HTML page that updates every 60 seconds. I'd stare at that page for 2 straight hours, switching between the play-by-play updates and the box scores, and feel as if I'm in the arena watching the game.

Then around 2001, radio stations started putting up live feeds on their websites and I was always on Miami Sport WQAM's listening to their free game broadcasts. I thought, what can be better than this?

About a couple of years after, the NBA decided to set this up as a subscription service called International Audio League Pass, and you get access to all NBA city's radio broadcasts. I was probably the first Filipino to sign up.

Around 2005-06, NBA finally starting showing live games. Of course, my credit card was ready for the taking. And over the years it has greatly evolved from just live games to having recorded games for on-demand viewing, simultaneous showing (mosaic) of up to 4 games, and a whole lot of NBA content to keep an NBA addict like me happy.

In 2011, they released an iPhone app which wasn't great then, but was quite handy.

And today, XBOX  sent out a mailer announcing the release of new sports TV apps, with NBA Game Time headlining it. With the same ilp.nba.com subscription, I can now watch on 4 different media whenever, wherever. So cool!!!
