Mr Lost and Found

How many times have you found a wallet? For me, three times.

The first time was not really a wallet, but a credit card. It was about 2 years ago in Singapore when we were lining up at the taxi stand in Takashimaya. I saw the card lying on the street and so I quickly picked it up, dialed the bank, explained the situation and asked for the owner to give me a call. She did call and met us the following morning at Shangri-la (where we were staying) with a can of expensive cookies as token of appreciation.

The second was last January here in Australia. I was waiting for Ethan near his school when i noticed a wallet on the empty parking slot beside me. Again, no contact number so I called one of his credit card providers and asked for a return call. The card company called back and said the owner is an old guy and wasn't comfortable talking. I found his driver's license which had his address, confirmed with the bank if its valid and i went to his home to return it to him. No one was home so I left it in the mailbox and called the bank again to relay the info.

Third time happened today. I was driving out of Bunnings when I noticed a wallet dropped out of the car in front of me. I picked it up and went through the contents. I didn't find his number but found a business card of his son (judging by the names on his medicare card). I called and he said he'll call his dad right away. Dad called back after a few minutes and was very thankful. He said he put it on the roof of his car as he loaded his stuff and forgot about it. He said he is on the way back but I couldn't wait so he asked me to leave the wallet to the one of the counter staff who I think he's friends with.

Kinda feels good when you're doing good deeds. I wonder when's next...
