Terrible time at the eye specialist

Ethan doesn't have good eye sight. He squints alot specially when reading small text, and his left eye is a little lazy sometimes.

I have already tried bringing him to optometrists twice the past 6 months, but both of them had not been able to get accurate readings. Not their fault. Ethan was not being cooperative. He won't read the letters and he wouldn't even answer any question. They both referred us to a child eye specialist who must be really good coz I had to schedule 3 months in advance.

Today is our day and I woke up early and optimistic.

We dropped Mommy at the Strathfield train station and we went our way to The Eye Smile Clinic at North Strathfield. We were first in line and Ethan seemed to be in a good mood, playing the toys there, reading the signs outside the window and letters on the wall. But that didn't last long. As soon as we were called by the doctor, Ethan became mum. Wont talk, wont read, wont even look at the doctor. He really wont cooperate and won't do the usual eye test.

Part of the test was to put eye drops on him three times at 30-min intervals. It was meant to dilate his pupils so that the specialist can thoroughly scan his eyes and accurately assess his vision. Sadly though, eye drops are just about as bad as medicines to Ethan. He wouldn't touch it and wouldn't let it touch him. He resisted so much, that even after three forced applications his pupils were still not fully dilated.

So in short, it was a waste of time.

The doctor did give us prescription eyedrops that we'll have to apply daily. It'll work slowly but more effectively in dilating his pupils and we're supposed to bring him back after 3 days for a proper check. That's on Tuesday, so wish me luck... or that's $260 completely wasted.

That's how he wears his shades
