2013 Family Week at Port Macquarie

The rest area lunch
Had a little bit of relaxation last week when we had our first family vacation in Australia - a 3-day holiday to Port Macquarie with our friends, the Sanchez family.

Lovely accommodation
We left Sydney on Monday morning, 23 Sep, and after a detour to a jungle (other side of Port Stephens), followed by a lunch stop at on of the rest areas along the highway, we reached Port Macquarie just before 3pm. Stopped by a local grocery to do some shopping before proceeding to Flynn's Resort only to find out that we weren't book there. tee hee. After getting some instructions, we finally reached our temporary home at Wyndham Vacation Resorts.
The accommodation was lovely. It was a 2 bedroom serviced unit with complete amenities - a full kitchen, washing facilities, 2 baths, a balcony, and 2 huge rooms. It was so relaxing that we spend most of the night just resting there, save for a quick 2 games of bowling between me, Hanee and Angel at the nearby arcade.

Went to the beach the following morning where Ethan declared that he didn't want to swim. Yet as soon as we reached the beach, he was the first to "play" in the water. After the soak and some sand play, we headed back to the hotel for lunch then went to the city for some shopping.

He doesn't wanna go to the beach. Really!
First stop was the Rivers store at Settlement City shopping centre. I thought we spent 4 hours there (exaggerating) and you'll see in the photos that we did buy a lot. They were sooo cheap!  Afterwards, we saw a toy store and again stayed another 4 hours there (again, exaggerating). Lani decided she'd buy one year's worth of gifts/toys from there. We then went to the mall and rested at the foodcourt while Ethan played and Hanee went for massage. Ka Narsing arrived late in the afternoon from Sydney and we spend the next 4 hours (exaggerating again) buying a cartfull from Best For Less. We didn't know they had $3 specials.

Camel riding at Lighthouse Beach

We wanted to have a good dinner but couldn't find a decent seafood restaurant (ironic coz we we're at a port city), so we ended up eating Thai.
River's galore!

The following day, we went to Lighthouse beach for camel riding then headed home at lunch time. We were home by 6pm on Wednesday and had to move to our new home the next day.
