And so I failed. Not terribly. But still a failure.
As I mentioned before, I was trying to lose 6-8kg in a week using a veggies and fruits diet that I saw off facebook. In my earlier blog, I talked about Days 1-4 where I lost at least 2.5kg. Unfortunately, Days 5-7 didn't turn out as successful.
Day 4 was supposed to be bananas and milk day. But for some reason, my tummy doesn't agree with that diet and by late afternoon I was already feeling very bloated, gassy, and developing diarrhea. I ate 2 bananas and a cup of milk for breakfast, 4 bananas and 2 cups of milk in the afternoon, and felt sick after that I couldn't stand the sight of bananas anymore. I switched to mangoes and watermelon for afternoon snack and steamed mixed veggies and water for dinner.
On Day 5, I weighed in at 87.7kg, only 300grams less than Day 4.
The diet plan for the day was all tomatoes with a bit of rice in the afternoon. I started off with 2 whole tomatoes with same lettuce in the morning then followed with 2 more tomatoes at lunch. All I can say was "yuccckkkkkk!" I don't like Tomatoes! One or two is tolerable, but beyond that, it's just plan ewwwwww! We had finished our IELTS Speaking test in the evening so we had a bit of a celebration and ate out at Westfield Parramatta. I had a bowl of cooked Chinese mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, baby corns, and string beans) and about half a cup of coke.
I weighed in at 87.4kg on Day 6. Again, only 300g less than the previous day. This day was meant to be veggies with a little bit of rice in the afternoon, but I decided I need a little more normal food because we have an IELTS test coming the following day. So, I ate a little more than what I should. I had fruits in the morning, steamed veggies and cooked fish for lunch, then a friend chicken leg and veggies in the evening.
On the morning of Day 7, I was still 87.4kg. Again, it was supposed to be veggies with rice, but we had a very long and eventful day. We started off with our IELTS exam at UWS College, Westmead and we were there until 12noon. Didn't get to eat breakfast so we headed next to Westfield Parramatta to eat Mornay Fish with Rice and Asian Salad - my favortie at the food court. With Lani's help, I managed to avoid eating any of the cheese - which actually defeats the purpose of ordering Mornay.
After a brief stop at home, at around 4pm we headed to Joy's house for her daughter's birthday party - and boy, were there abundance of food. Lechon, spaghetti, cakes, lumpiang ubod, fried chicken. It was too much to resist so I gave in. I still tried to eat less than what I normally would consume. In fact I'd say I probably ate just about 1/4 of my normal party consumption.
In the evening, Lani and I went on to attend the district Evangelical Mission at Liverpool, where again there was an abundance of food - from Filipino cuisines, to Chinese dimsum, to pizzas and pastas, rice cakes, everything you possible look for. It was festive! But, I'm proud to say that I didn't have any at all. All I had was a bottle of water.
The following morning, my weight was 87.6kg, exactly 3kgs down from where I started. Which means I failed my goal of 6-8kgs. Oh, well. It's still not a bad result. I feel lighter now and I've lost some fats around the waist. In fact Lani bought me a new slim-fit suit and it fits me well. I also find
that I have less cravings for food now and when I'm eating, I feel full
faster than I used to.
Now, the plan was to do another round of this diet. But I realised weekends are going to be tough. Just like last Sunday, when we had a formal wedding dinner to attend to. So what I've decided is, I'll try to continue this diet but with a little modification. On weekdays, I will stick to veggies and fruits, and on Weekends I'll give myself a bit of freedom to enjoy.
