Taronga Zoo and ferry trips

Erin's been fascinated with animals the past few weeks, so we thought why not bring her to a zoo so she can see real ones. And that's exactly what we did yesterday.

The travel to the city is boring so we thought we'd spice it up a bit by taking the ferry to the zoo. A ferry ride is something that we haven't really done as a family. In fact, the last time Lani and I hopped on Sydney Ferries was more than 11 years ago. True enough, we all enjoyed our journey. Though it was long and tedious (20mins to drive to the wharf, 10 mins wait for the ferry, 45 mins ferry trip to Circular Quay, and another 10 mins wait, then 12 mins ferry again to the zoo),  it proved fun and exciting.

At the zoo, we had our first Cable Car ride as a family as well. Ethan and Erin loved going up the slope and seeing the animals down below. As we got to the entrance, it started raining so we ended up in the gift shop where Erin enjoyed calling out each and every animal stuff toy she saw. It was funny when she called the kangaroo a rabbit. The shop sold raincoats which were perfect. Erin's stroller also had a plastic rain cover so we were set to go despite the bad weather.

Erin enjoyed seeing the animals, specially her favorites - elephant, giraffe, tiger, and bear. She'd say Hello to them then utter unintelligible words as if talking to them, or about them. Then she'd say Bye to the animal and we'd go to the next enclosure.

Ethan, on the other hand, enjoyed his food, the ice cream, and the view.

We left the zoo just before the 5pm closing time, again taking the cable car down to the station and rode the ferry back to Kissing Point Wharf where our car is parked. We reached home around half past six.
