10,000 steps a day

That's the plan.

In our hopes to maintain a healthy lifestyle, Lani and I, through our office, have joined the Global Corporate Challenge, a global initiative that encourages employee health and wellbeing. The goal is simple: walk 10,000 steps everyday for the next 100 days.

The event officially started yesterday, 27 May, and will continue on till the 3rd of September. Lani and I received our pedometers last week and we've been doing our 'practice' walks. Yesterday, we both managed to surpass the 10k mark by walking at the Royal North Shore sport ground during lunch and doing some in-place jogging when we got home last night.


10,000 steps in not terribly difficult. I find that it's about the equivalent of just 30mins of brisk walking. I managed to get 7,000 last saturday in about 15mins of shooting hoops by myself. So I reckon I can easily reach 10,000 in just one game of 5-on-5 full court basketball.
