Bobbin Head 2016

It's a holiday! Yey!

We usually devote our holiday to church. Be it attending special worship services, participating in activities organised by the District office, or going to socialisings and gatherings in our locale. But there wasn't anything planned today, so we had the whole day to ourselves. And we chose to spend it at Bobbin Head Park!

Bobbin Head is memorable to Lani and me, and probably a few other friends as well. When we first came to Australia on company tour in 2004, Bobbin Head was one of the first parks we visited. Lani, myself, Donnel, Marti, and Lei where brought there by Donnell's aunt and we fell in love with the place. Lani and I told ourselves that if we ever migrate to Australia, we would always be visiting that park. Unfortunately, life unfolded not as we expected it to, so we never got to revisit the place in the almost 4 years that we've been here. Until today.

Lani had invited some friends to join, but only ka Marcel and family are the only ones available.

We started with the plan to simply go picnic at Bobbin Head Picnic Ground. But someone asked Lani if there is a place to swim in, so she decided it's best to head to the Basin Picnic ground, since they're both at Ku-ring-gai National Park anyway. Little did we know, they are 30+ kilometers apart.

So we started our drive heading to the Basin. Right after we entered Ku-ring-gai Chase, GPS stopped working. So we drove the very very long and winding road of McCarrs Creek and took the wrong turn towards Church Point instead of West Head. Realising we were already driving further and further from the creek, we stopped and turned back.

We manged to get to West Head and into the entrance of the Basin track. To our surprise, the Basin Picnic ground is a 2.8kms walk from the parking area. We decided to head to Bobbin Head instead.

On the way to Bobbin Head, I managed to make the wrong turn again, so we had to take another u-turn. I guest I'm living up to my reputation - the u-turn king.

After about 40mins, we managed to reach Bobbin Head Picnic Ground. And it still looks very similar to what it was in 2004, except for the big children's playground right in the middle of the parking area. It wasn't there before.

We got there right in time for lunch. So we quickly secured a table, laid down the mats and tent, and started eating while cooking barbeque.

Ethan and Erin made a few trips to the playground. We went boating which was awesome. A great time for family bonding. Then we went to the Mangroove boardwalk for some photos.

We left the park around 5pm and got home just before 6, right on time to perform another Church duty - prepare the chapel for tomorrow's service.
