Day trip to Canberra

Since our trip to Canberra last year, Ethan has been pleading for us to go back there, particularly to Questacon. We told him it was this school holidays so the entire term he's been excited. We didn't really plan for much. We did want to visit Floriade and the Cockington Gardens, but other than that, it really was just a visit to Questacon. So we decided to only go for a day trip.

Our day started at 3am when we woke up to prepare for the trip. Just one tap and Ethan was already awake and quickly shouted "Yay, Canberra!!!". Showered, dressed up, cooked boiled eggs for breakfast, and off we went. The kids stayed up the whole trip watching 2 Disney teen movies.

We reached Canberra at around 7:30am and went to Andrew/Em's house. Em is a distant relative to Lani but the couple are close to us, back to the time we were in Singapore. They have 2 kids, Dreiko and Yanyan, who were around the age of Ethan and Erin, respectively. The kids played a bit, the adults had very heavy singaporean food for breakfast (Laksa, Cereal Prawn, Crabs, a lot!!), and I went for a quick nap.

At around 9:30, we headed to Questacon which was about 5mins away. We were joined by Em, Andrew, and the kids. The kids enjoyed every part of it. Ethan spent a lot of time on the wooden customisable pinball thingie as well as the air-hockey game. Erin loved the stuff with air - one where you insert cloth and air pulls it through a series of pipe tunnels, the other was air blowing up and you can have stuff (cups and paper plates) float around.

We stayed there for about 4 hours before heading back to their place for lunch. Again, heavy but very delicious Singaporean food. We left Em's place at 3:30pm planning to visit either Cockington or Floriade, but Ethan still wanted to go to Questacon so we just spend the rest of the day there.

We were back on the road at around 6pm and home at 9. Kids slept through the whole trip.

All in all, a great family day!
