We asked Ethan what he wanted to do on his birthday and he said we can just have food at home and invite some people over. But as he enumerate the friends he wanted to invite, it was becoming obvious that it wasn't going to happen. Too much preparation and too little time. So instead we just asked him what gift he wanted to get and we'd just do a simple family celebration - he was cool with that.
And so, Lani and I bought him a bunch of toys that he asked for, mostly Skylanders, bought a cake, and had a very simple candle-blowing ceremony at home.
The funny thing is that one of the toys I got - the Skylanders xbox game - was meant for XBOX 360. And what we have at home is an XBOX ONE. So, after the celebration, Ethan and I had to go to the shopping center to get it replaced. First we went to Target at Carlingford Court and couldn't find one, so we travelled to Macquarie Shopping Centre and managed to get one at Big W.
