Everyday for the past 2 weeks, we have spent our nights huddled together in front of the TV (or the computer) for 2-3 episodes of Supergirl. The episodes are long (45 mins each), which is great.
We just finished season 2 last night and we're all excited for Season 3.
Now, I don't normally do this but I've nothing else to blog about, so I'm gonna devote this post on my thoughts about the show:
The Good
- Supergirl herself. The character was perfect, not because she does all things right, but because she has so many imperfections. It's such a great that kids get to see that even superheroes have shortcomings and weaknesses too. I also love Melissa Benoist's acting.
- Cat Grant. I hated her in the beginning but she quickly grew on me - and everyone else who watched. Such wit and composure even when her life's in danger. I love that irony of her talking about
- Win Schott. Genius on the computer but so unsure of himself in everything else. The hero for every nerd kid like me.
- Mon-El. He was reckless, he was fun. But he's the hero who sacrificed in the end. We all want him back, don't we?
- James Olsen. Really? As in, really??? The Kara's love-interest thing didn't work out, so make him another superhero? His character arc is so forced, I think he is the one biggest flaw in the show.
- Maxwell Lord. I love him despite his penchant for overdoing his 'protect the world' mantra, but seriously, what happened to him in Season 2? Why did he suddenly disappear? Not even a mention of his name nor involvement in any of the several world-threatening events in Season 2.
- And speaking of world-threatening events, where was Superman the whole time? Is the guy partying in another planet or something? How far is Metropolis from National City for him not to be there to help?
