Baller Ethan

Today was our church's sports activity - which we call Unity Games - and I'm such a happy dad. For many years I have been encouraging Ethan to play basketball - which obviously is my favorite sport. Today he finally did!

The Unity Games is a gathering of a locals in the district to play in different sporting events. Today's events were basketball for Buklod, Kadiwa, Binhi, and CWS, and Volleyball for mixed Men and mixed Women.

Ethan was not scheduled to play today - he doesn't even know how to play basketball - but when we got to the venue our local's CWS team only had 4 players and they needed another body or lose by default. Ethan was forced to join and they won. He ended playing 4 games throughout the day.

He didn't have a jersey so he wore my #00 jersey the whole time. He asked why I choose the number #00 and I told him that it was to remind myself that I didn't score any points at all in my first ever basketball tournament - to inspire my self to keep trying. And that's exactly what happened to him today. He didn't score any points but he had fun, and he promised to try to learn more and practice.

Tonight he's already asked me to bring him to the basketball court where I play regularly so he can practice and hopefully score some points in the next tourney. I'm excited!
