Ethan as Alex the Lion in Madacasgar Junior

So proud of our big boy.
We just watched his performances in Carlingford West Public School's production of Disney's Madagascar, The Musical Adventure, Junior!

As I mentioned in my post last year, Ethan auditioned as was selected for the role of Alex the Lion. They have been practicing since February and that culminates this week. They performed in 5 shows, on the Tuesday morning for the Kindy and Year 1 kids, then Tuesday evening for general paying public (majority were parents, but we had many friends attend as well). Then on Wednesday, they did a show for the Year 2 and 3 students. And on today, Thursday, they performed in the morning for the Year 4, 5, and 6 kids, and again in the evening for general public. Lani and I watch on Tue and Thu evenings, while Erin got to watch the 2 shows on Tuesday.

We are so proud of Ethan. He did great in his performances. Though you can sense nerves in the start (he sings the very first line of the show), he quickly relaxes and sings his first solo (King of New York City) like a star. His co-stars were great too, specially the girl that played Marty, she was well-composed and had a great voice. But what I really liked was the whole production itself. The stage was fantastic, the lights were good, audio was terrific, and the amount of kids that participated was overwhelming. It certainly didn't look like a school project. I can compare it to the professional musicals performed at Riverside Parramatta, less the live orchestra.

I hope Ethan would pursue this more. I think he has the talent to really be a good singer and actor, I hope I'd be able to convince him to audition to broadway-level plays.
