Lake Macquarie 2020

Eighteen years and counting. That's how long Lani and I have been married, and I pray that we get another 100 years more together.

Just as what we usually do around this time of the year, we went for a holiday trip. This year it was at Ingenia Holidays Lake Macquarie. We were blessed to be with our friends the Luzons and Madulis. The Luzons are also celebrating Dulcine's birthday, while the Madulis had already planned a trip before the grandparents fly back home to Philippines. So it was perfect timing to be together.

We booked park cabins at Ingenia Holidays, a decent-sized holiday and caravan park along the lake. The place has some facilities to keep the kids (and adults) entertained, and the cabins had 2-rooms each, just perfect for our familes.

Friday, Sep 18

We left Carlingford just after 5pm because we all went to work. Lani and I had a particularly long and stressful work meeting at 3-5pm so it was a chaos trying to get everything sorted for a trip. We reached Lake Macquarie at about 7pm in time for the kids webex choir practice, and the adults started preparing for dinner at the Maduli cabin.

After dinner, we all stayed in the Luzon cabin to watch the non-animated Mulan movie. There were plenty of complaints from everyone, mainly because (1) it's not a musical, (2) the dragon was replaced with phoenix that didn't do much except for flying, and (3) where's the captain? I guess the complaining was more fun than the movie itself.

Once we got back in our cabin, the kids fell asleep almost immediately while Lani and I continued our Korean drama until way past midnight.

Saturday, Sep 19

We all woke up around 8am and had breakfast in our cabin. We then headed to the playground and a stroll by the lake. We played a bit of volleyball then the kids decided they would go swimming.

At lunch, we were visited by some special guests and we had a party for Dulcine's birthday. It was a lovely backyard celebration. Plenty of food which we ended up eating till the following day.

In the afternoon, we went back to the lake side for photo ops, more volleyball, and a game of soccer with the kids.

Dinner was at our cabin and after plenty of laughs, we capped the night by watching the entire season of The Most Dangerous game. It wasn't very long, each episode was less than 10 minutes, but it was an adrenaline rush - especially to Lani who embodied the role of the lead. She was on her toes the entire time.

Sunday, Sep 20

It was an early morning for everyone as we all had to attend the 8am worship service. After performing our duties, we went for breakfast along with more laughs. Checked out of our cabins at around 11am then headed back to Sydney to catch the kids' 12:30pm CWS activity.

We all fell the 2-night break was a tad too short. But oh well, we know what to do next time.
