Blood is life

In the essense of being true Christians, one of our duties is to help our fellowmen and what better way to do it than to give them life. And blood is life. So in commemoration if the 45th Anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in Australia, the church has organised blood donations with the goal of saving 4500 lives. And we, of course, are thrilled to be part of it.

Last 21 August we did our first blood donation at Red Cross Parramatta. They were for whole blood donations. Unfortunately it qas a failed extraction for me. They tried putting the needle in but didn’t hit the nerve so no blood was drawn. Sadly, Red Cross doesnt allow retries so I had to return another day. Lani’s was successful though, along with 20+ other members of the congregation who went that day.

Then on the 25th of Sep, we went back for second round - Plasma donation this time. Lani’s again went smoothly, but mine was changed to whole blood because they were worried they wouldn’t hit my vein again and won’t be able to re-circulate my blood after plasma extraction. Good thing though that the whole blood extraction went without any hiccups.

We’re booked again for our 3rd round on 23 October.
