First time in Drive-in Cinema

There’s always room for first-times. And this one is about drive-in cinemas.

Thanks to dear friend Bro Aris who is celebrating his birthday, we finally got to experience watching in a drive-in cinema. The one we went to was Blacktown Drive-in which was about 20mins drive from our home. We were with the Luzon and Maduli families, so 3 big cars.

We got there at around 9pm and caravaned in to the huge parking lot with big screens on either side. We were going to watch the latest Spiderman movie which was on the south-facing screen. We had the cars lined up facing the back, hatches opened up, mats and picnic chairs spread out, and KFC refreshments ready for consumption.

The movie started around 9:40pm, and we had sounds coming from the cars’ radios. The movie is a bit dark (ie most scenes happen at night) so it wasn’t easy to watch, but we did enjoy it anyway.

Halfway through, the hot temperature (32 deg) suddenly turned windy and there was a thunderstorm warning on our phones. Very quickly thunders came in and it started raining heavily. We had to pack our picnic up and retreat to the cars. As I was about to start the car, I found that the tadio actually drained my battery. Good thing I had a jumper in the car and Bro Dennis helped me start it up with his car.

The rain continued on until the end of the movie, so we parted ways soon after.

It was a good experience altogether, which would have been better if it didnt rain.
