You are gold!!! Happy birthday Mommy!
The past week has been a good round of celebrations for Lani's milestone birthday as she turns 50 this year. We've had a few dinners, lunch with friends at the Boatshed Pyrmont in Sydney Fish Market, but the highlight was the holiday weekend with the kids.
We booked ourselves for a night at the W Hotel Sydney, one of the newest and most prestigious hotels in Sydney, next probably only to The Crown in Barangaroo. The hotel is situated as Darling Harbour, just above the iMax theatre and opposite the International Convention Centre and the Darling Quarter playground.
After our Sunday church duties, we drove to the city and parked the car at Darling Carpark. A few minutes walk and we're checked in at the W Hotel. Our room was a big one at the 22nd floor with 2 double beds and views of the Darling Harbour. The room was spacious, had a huge bath, a small walking closet, a coffee table with a couple seats looking at the harbour, a counter full of goodies, and 2 lovely shark stuffies on the beds. It was elegant and cozy.
We had a few minutes rest then headed out for a walk. The kids went to buy ice creams at Gelatissimo. Ethan made a bit of a mess when his ice cream cone broke from the weight of the 3-scoop gelato he got. His shirt got stained, but it was ok coz we were meant to go to Connors to buy him new jumpers. We passed by the Darling Quarter and walked to Market City to do a bit of shopping. Coming back, we passed by the playground again and Erin played for a bit. Rested a little then headed our to Sydney Lyric Theatre for a quick Kebab dinner before going in to watch &Juliet (my review on the next post).
The night ended on a wonderful tone as we all enjoyed and loved the musical. We passed by a convenience store for snacks and headed back to the hotel for the night. Lani and I spend the next 5hours watching the last 3 episodes of Queen of Tears k-drama.
The following morning, Lani's birthday, we woke up early and used the gym facilities of the hotel. After that we got the kids and went to the family pool, which happened to be in the same floor as our room. After some fun, we headed back and prepared for checkout.
We left the hotel at 11am, walked to the carpark to leave our stuff, then walked the 1km path to Sydney Eye Tower for our lunch at SkyFeast. SkyFeast was lovely, the views, the tables. The only thing I didn't particularly enjoy was the food - I thought I enjoyed Epicurean more. Doesn't matter - the birthday girl enjoyed their seafood.
After the hearty meal, we walked back to the car (1km again), and headed the Luna park to enjoy the rest of the afternoon with the Madulis. Erin went to a few rides with Aeron and Crizelle, and Ethan went for the Sledgehammer Extreme 360 ride.
And to cap the night, we had late dinner with our adult kids Hanee and Gelo at Pancake on the Rocks in Northmead.
On Thursday Lani continues her celebration with Epicurean dinner with some of her friends.
