The 8km Bay Run

Well, it was more of a 0.1km run and 7.9km walk. 😂

We have been dragged by our friends to go on a morning walk. It was originally just the ladies, but as one of them backed out, the remaining 3 decided they’d bring the husbands along to turtore us, I mean help us get healthier. They decided we’d do The Bay Run, a 8km loop around the Iron Cove, a lake-like body of water surrounded by the suburbs of suburbs of RozelleLilyfieldHaberfieldFive DockRodd PointRussell Leaand Drummoyne.

So we were picked up at 7am and we all drove together to Drummoyne, the UTS Haberfield Rowers Club being our starting and ending point.

At first we followed the crowd moving northward towards Lylifield. After about 1km of “running” we realised it was the wrong way and the “Bay Run” event was actually only happening in that very small portion of the loop. So we headed back towards our starting point and started our agonising 8km walk around the cove.

Midway through, right after passing the Victoria Rd bridge, we stopped for a hearty breakfast at the Watershed Cafe. Then after about an hour, we continued on our journey back to where we started.

In total, we all walked about 8.6km and averaged around 14,000 steps. As soon as we reachedthe cafe at the UTS, the rain poured really heavily. If we were a minute slow, we would’ve been soaked.

It was tiring but fun.
