Seriously?!?
So on Tuesday the 26th I woke up with pain on my lower left rib. Dull constant pain which I thought was because of basketball. I played basketball the day prior after more than a week of inactivity due to the rainy weather. And the games were intense. So naturally I'd have sore muscles the following day. And so I ignored it. Took ibuprofen and played basketball again at sunset.
The following morning, I woke up 5am for worship service and I already knew something was off. Pain was still there and I was feeling weird - dont know how to explain, but different to what I usually am. I was contemplating if I should ask my reserve to perform as primary HD instead of me. But I decided to carry on.
Right after WS, I went home and asked Lani to bring me to hospital. We headed to Westmead Emergency Rooms. They didnt make us wait, plugged me in to ECG almost immediately and took bloods (after 5 tries to put in a canulla). The doctors said there was abnormalities in my ECG and my blood results returned high level of troponin, a sign of heart attack. However, they are also ruling out inflammation as possible side effect of my immunotherapy. After a few more test (ECG, Ultrasound, and more blood tests), they gave me a robe and I knew right there I was gonna get admitted. True enough, it didn't take long for the Admissions Officer to come by and went through the paperwork. They have scheduled angiogram to check my heart.
Spent most of Wednesday in a short-stay bed in ER, while we wait for a room in the wards. They told me to fast in the evening for a morning or afternoon procedure. Thursday 3pm, they finally brought me in for andiogram.
The doctors saw 2 blocked arteries, so angioplasty and stenting were performed. Interesting process, I was awake the whole time watching the procedure on the monitor. Fascinating feeling a tube through your arm, and looking at in enter your heart through the live xray. It took about 1.5hrs to finish before I was sent me to recovery. Lucky sis Jacqueline Cena was on duty at the ER so she was able to update Lani every step of the way.
By 7pm I was already at K5 ward. Lani and sis Rowena where there to greet me. After they left at 8pm, the Abinguna family came by to visit.
At 9pm, I was moved to a more private room, K12a Bed 9. The room only had 2beds. Had a bit of rest before they woke me up at 4am to move back to K5 as I was already being prepared for discharge.
At 7:30am on Friday, after breakfast I was escorted to the Discharge Unit to wait for my report and medications. Took them forever though and they only managed to give them at 11:30am. Good thing was Lani, the kids, and Hanee arrived at 10am to accompany me. And by lunch time, we were back at home.
Looking forward to playing basketball again in 4-6 weeks.
