Back from Vacation

It was a long vacation, and I don’t mean my hiatus from my blogs. We were in Manila from 12 to 21 of February to take advantage of the Chinese New Year break. It was fun to see our families again and Ethan definitely enjoyed this trip.

Ethan didn’t have any problem with the flights, he seemed comfortable and even wanted to be let go inside the plane. We managed to subdue him with our Eat-Wah! peek-a-boo tricks.

Arriving there, we were met by my family, bro, mommy, ian, and the kids. Ethan still knows Ate Aliss and she still entertains him better than anyone else. Even when Ethan is crying, he’d stop and giggle as soon as he sees Ate. He didn’t pay much attention to Akiko though, except when he is putting food into Akiko’s mouth.

Ethan started talking more during this trip, and he would imitate many of the new words he would hear. He now consistently calls Lani as ‘Mani’ (sounds like Mommy), calls Aliss as ‘Ate’ (perfect pronunciation), Ging as her ‘Tita’, and Kuya Ian as ‘A!’ (because that’s the sound he was making when Ethan first saw him).

On his first night, he woke up at 4am to the sound of the cocka-doodle-ing roosters (our neighbor keeps about five of them, resting by the side of our house). That kept him up for 2 hours and he quickly learned how to say ‘tik-ti-laa,’ missing the last syllable ‘okk’.

The only down of this trip was he had diarrhoea. He would pass wet stool almost every hour on Thursday, but of course that didn’t stop him from playing. We suspect it’s the KFC mashed potatoes (with a lot of gravy) that gave him that.

Before we flew back on Sunday (yesterday), Ethan celebrated his 14-month birthday with Mommy Lola, Daddy Lolo, and Kuya Ian with a simple Red Ribbon cake and 2 pizzas.
