Our new car - 2003 Holden Berlina VY Sedan

We went to North Parramatta on Tuesday hoping to get to one of the car yards to buy our car. Along the way, we went Macquarie Shopping Centre and went past the INC Sydney local chapel.

The trip didn't go well as we didn't find any car yard, and worst, Ethan had the fits. So we ended up taking the bus again to go back home.

Following morning, I went down to Parramatta Rd (through Granville station) and browsed through the many yards there.

The first one I really liked was a burgundy 2003 Holden Berlina VY with a $7,990 price tag. It was way beyond my budget so I drooled and bitterly moved on to the next shop.

There was a decent selection that I liked, particularly the gold 2002 Holden Commodore being sold at $5,999. I haggled a little bit and the dealer agreed to sell at $4,250. Sadly thought, the car wasn't ready yet. It needed an inspection and the rego renewal which will cost some, and the earliest he can get the car ready was Thursday afternoon. We needed a car on Thursday morning for all the house inspections so I had to move on.

I couldn't find any other that I wanted so I walked my way back to the train station. Along the way, I passed by the Berlina again and stopped to admire it's elegance. The dealer noticed and tried to sell it to me. After some haggling, he settled on $6,000 - a good 2k off of the original price.

Fifteen minutes of paper works and I was on my way home - driving my new (used) car!

The Berlina is a semi-luxury version of the Commodore. It has got a 3.8litre, v6 engine, 4-speed automatic transmission, climate control, cruise control, traction control, a trip computer, 16" alloy wheels, and a 6-disc in-dash CD player. The one I got has very dark tints, dark colored cloth interior, and rego until Mar 2013.

Cool!
