Longanisa is the new hotdog

When we were still in Singapore, Ethan only knew one meal - Hotdog, Rice, and Egg. He would "order" that everyday from either Nanay, Lani or myself and he'd happily eat a bowl not caring if there are other dishes on the table.

In the first 2 months since moving to Sydney, Ethan's appetite had not really changed much. It might have been due to the fact that the hotdog here, or frankfurts, are very similar in appearance and taste to the hotdog that we're accustomed to in the Philippines. And Ethan loves that. So he went on to order the same thing each and every day.

In the recent weeks, we've had the chance to spend more time in the house. And for Lani, that meant more time cooking in the kitchen. She's cooked meals that she'd only known to order before - Green Curry Chicken, Thai Minced Chicken, Pasta w/ Taba ng Talangka and a few others. One dish that stood out more than any other was her Longanisang Hubad.

Most of the time, Ethan would not bother what we're eating. He'd munch on his bowl of hotdog, rice and egg, while Lani and I eat something else. But when Lani cooked Longanisa, he became more curious than usual. Maybe he thought it was some kind of hotdog, so he asked for a bite. Since then, whenever he's hungry he'd ask for his new favorite meal - "Rice, Egg, and Longanisa" - or as he calls it - "Fastolina."
