And the Macbook lives again

So I posted about this conundrum I had last week when my Macbook Air suddenly stopped working.
Apple Stores wanted me to buy a new Mac (or pay upwards of $1000 to repair) and claiming through Home Insurance will cost me $500 because of my "excess" arrangments.

Yesterday, I managed to find a technician who offered to repair the laptop at much lower cost. His initial quote was $200 or free if he can't fix it. I thought that's a fair price so I sent the laptop to him.

Around 6pm, I got a message from him saying some parts were corroded and a chip needed to be replaced, which was gonna cost $100 extra. It was still less than what I'd pay through Apple Store and insurance so I went ahead.

This morning, he called me and said the laptop is ready for collection. Off I went and lo and behold, the Macbook Air is alive again! Wit wiw!

The best part is, I called Apple Care and they said they'd reimburse the remaining 2years of my warranty. Not sure of the amount yet (SGD to AUD conversion, plus deduction of the purchase discounts), but I'm guessing I will get around $250. Isn't that nice?!?
