My Macbook is dead!

Tsk tsk tsk, this is bad. This is veeerrrrrryyyyyy bad!

I was using the Macbook last Sunday night when it suddenly went caput! Wont boot, no display, no sound, nothing but fan. I tried all the key combinations to reset the NVRAM and PRAM but no success.

Decided to bring it to Apple Store the following day, but when I got there, I was told by one of the geniuses that I needed to set an appointment. Oh well...

Back again the following day, I brought my laptop in and a genius took a look at it, asked me to wait, and brought it inside for further check. He came back after about 15 minutes and told me that it needs to be left there for repair, which I was happy with.

After a day, I got a call from Apple and the fellow said my laptop had liquid damage and is no longer on warranty. The sad part is, it's not even 1yr old and I have a 2 additional years of AppleCare on it. He said it can be repaired but the cost is more than buying a new Macbook. Darn!

The good news is, it is covered in my home contents insurance, although I have a $500 excess, so I still have to shell out that much regardless of whether it's a repair or a replacement. Another option is to have it repaired outside of Apple. Or, if I'm in an adventurous mood, try to fix this myself using ebay-ed parts.

Decisions...
