The joy of being Aussie!

For the first time in more than 2 years, we've gone to the doctor without paying anything. Oh, the joy of having Medicare benefits!

Ethan has some dry patches on his skin which we thought was fungal. After more than a week of no response to treatment, we decided to bring him to the doctor.

When you get to the clinic, the first thing that the aide will normally ask is your medicare card. If you don't have any, she'll get confused, as if not able to fathom why someone who resides in Australia does not have a Medicare card. Well, hello! There are over 196,450 holders of 457 visas in the country as of September 2013.

But when we got to the clinic yesterday, I was proudly holding up my temporary receipt from Medicare like it's my golden ticket. For the first time I was not asked to pay for the service rendered.
Woohoo!
