Australia Day 2017

Happy Australia Day, Australia!!!

We got up early today to celebrate Australia Day. The church had an activity planned at Holroyd Gardens Park in Merrylands so Lani and I went there very early to secure a BBQ pit. Unfortunately though, no one else turned up, so after close to 2 hours of bonding with each other (read: waiting for others), we decided to go.

Bonding in an empty park
We then decided to bring the kids to Parramatta park where there is a big Australia Day celebration. And it was definitely a fun event. There were amusement rides, food stalls everywhere, performances on stage, kids play areas and activities, and lots of picnic areas. We met with the Carungay's and spend the day with them at that park.

Erin saw some kids wearing face paints and decided she wanted one too. The queue was very long though but that didn't discourage our sweet little one. She lined up for 2 hours just to get her face paint. It turned out beautifully.

We headed home around 5pm to rest.

Then around 8pm, we decided to go back to the park to witness the fireworks display. And so we did. We ended up in the car park area near the Parramatta Swimming School. We just sat on the grass and waited for the fireworks to start. The kids enjoyed it a lot.
