Sydney Observatory

I had taken leave from work today so spend some time with the kids. School holiday is about to end in a week so I thought I'd bring the kids out coz they've been stuck in the house for two weeks now.

Ethan had long been interested in the stars and planets and had asked me numerous times to bring him to the planetarium. And so I did. We went to the Sydney Observatory.

The observatory wasn't really a great attraction, to be honest. There wasn't much in it. It's pretty much a very small museum with a big telescope, a small dark room dubbed "Planetarium", and a small 20-seater room called "theater". We spent just about an hour in it. It was still a good experience though, with the kids being able to look at the big telescope to see the Sun and watching a short 3D movie.

The planetarium itself was a bit of a disappointment. The room was too small, the seats (which really is just a round couch) is not comfortable, and you are practically lying down just to see the projection on the domed ceiling. The projection itself was somewhat blurred and the way it was presented was quite boring. The kids weren't too pleased with it.

After the educational stuff, we headed to Chatswood Chase to buy toys. The kids were definitely pleased with that.
