CWS Tagisan ng Talino

We are so proud of our big kuya Ethan. He did well in the CWS Tagisan ng Talino district-wide competition yesterday, 25 June.

He spent quite some time preparing for this from reading lots of lessons at home to attending review sessions at the church with Ate Armie and AC.

Coming in to the competition, he was quite confident though still nervous. There were 40 kids who joined from different locales in the Australia East district. Plenty of them from metro sydney, but a number joining via wbeex from way up Queensland, to way down New Zealand. The competition had 3 rounds. The 1st round was fill-in-the-blanks and Ethan got 100% of his answers correct. Along with 20 other kids, he moved on to round 2 which was a multiple choice quiz. Again he got 100% right. He got through to 3rd round with 10 other finalists. The 3rd round was very difficult because the answers had to be verbatim from the past 6 month's CWS lessons. Ethan said he did well at the start and towards the end but missed out on several questions midway through.

Ethan didn't get through the top 3 but still we are full of pride in what he has accomplished, especially that he was the only Year 3 kid in the finals. Everyone else were in Years 5 to 7.

He wasn't too sad about not winning but he did ask me to put him in again in next year's quiz.
