School holidays, finally! And with it, trips & holidays!
We can been looking for a quick getaway since the start of school this year, and we were caught between driving down to Melbourne or up to Gold Coast. But because of the uncertainty of COVID lockdowns, we settled on somewhere not too far - Canberra. We found a great holiday park with fantastic anemities and lots of space. The gang were all in so we quickly booked it.
The accomodations we booked were at the Alivio Tourist Park, Canberra. It's a wonderful caravan and cabin park with plenty of space and lots of activity areas. They have a bastketball court, volleyball/badminton court, a tennis court, table tennis err table, kids' playgrounds, swimming pools, and waterplay areas. They also have plenty of barbeque areas and a cozy restaurant with buffet breakfast and pizza dinners.
We went there during the long east weekend. It was short but of course there were plenty of laughs and stories and food and cooking. It's always fun going places with friends.
Here's the day-to-day recollection of the trip.
Friday, 2 April
- Left Carlingford at around 11am and because of the terrible holiday traffic, we only reached Alivio at around 4pm.
- We had a quick late lunch with the Carungays then waited for the arrival of the rest
- The kids went to the playground and spent the rest of the afternoon there.
- Erin, Aeron, Crizelle, Benson, and Abby went for a swim just before it went dark.
- Dinner was at our cabin with the Coles discount lobster on the menu
Saturday, 3 April
- Woke up early for a 7:30am pre-booked buffet breakfast at the restaurant
- Then the kids had to attend their 9am CWS Choir practice
- In the afternoon, we headed out to see the National Gallery of Australia
- Then went for lunch and monster shakes at Pattisez
- The kids then went to the nearby Toy Store
- Then we headed to the Weston Park for a quick play
- Then drove to the Mount Ainslie lookout for some photos
- The kids wanted to swim again so he headed back quickly to the resort
- Dinner was barbeque at one of the pits in the resort
Sunday, 4 April

- We wanted to visit Questacon but it was fully booked
- We just stayed in the resort and played basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and went swimming.
- For dinner, we headed to Lolo & Lolas restaurant for some Pinoy food.
Monday, 5 April
- After breakfast in our cabin, the kids headed out for a final play and swim
- Then after having lunch, we checked out for our trip back to Carlingford
- We passed by the National War Museum (which I really enjoyed)
- Then some photo ops at the Parliament House grounds. We didn't get to go in because we didn't have booking.
