Cancer check 2021

To make sure that Cancer is kept at bay, or perhaps out far away in the ocean, I undergo annual routine colonoscopy. But this year, my gastroenterologist suggested that we do an Endoscopy as well to make sure there’s no sign of recurrence elsewhere. Im happy to oblige, so the operations were scheduled today 15 November.

I’ve spend the past day doing my cleansing, which pretty much means diarrhoea-like events throughout the 24 hours before my procedure. Couple that with the fasting that’s required, I arrived at North Shore Private Hospital dry and dehydrated. Good thing I had my love Lani helping me through. She brought me there and stayed in the hospital until I got out of recovery.

The procedures went without any issue and the results were clear as well - no sign of cancer - thank God!

I was on general anaesthesia for the procedure so I really don’t know what happened. Last I remember was that I was wheeled in to the OR, asked to say my name and date if birth a few times, then a sharp pain on my arm where the canula was injected. And that was it. I was asleep.

Next thing I knew, I was being woken up in recovery very groggy. i admit, this is my favourite part of the colonoscopy, waking up from a very deep sleep. Where you feel very groggy and it’s difficult to wake up - coz then you know that you had a really good sleep. Too bad I couldn’t sleep more, the nurses kept on waking me up. Oh well, till next year.
