I'm proud to be a Filipino. That's probably my biggest take home from watching Miss Saigon at the Sydney Opera House yesterday. Kim, The Engineer, Thuy, same members of the emsemble, they were Filos, and boy were they good!
This year's Miss Saigon is an extravagant - a much bigger show than the one we watched at Riverside Parramatta in 2017. This has a grander stage, bigger ensemble, and of course, an iconic venue.
The performances were definitely top-notch. The actress who played Kim had crystal-clean voice, Chris had wonderful vocal range, and the Engineer was irritatingly adorable!
We had our booking done more than a month ago by one of our friends. We were joined by the usual Luzon and Maduli couples, plus the Dela Cruz family who organised the night. The Dela Cruz fam came early and had dinner in a hotel nearby, while the rest of us drove in together after work and had a quick meal at Guylian before catching the show. We were seated at the last row of the balcony, which surprisingly wasn't too bad. It was far, but still near enough to see faces on stage.
After the show we went back to the Luzons for dinner and chat.
