Thankful for different reasons

Our holiday here in the Philippines had been great so far. We have been to many places around Metro Manila (didn't plan any out of towns anyway), met many of our friends, and had wonderful time with family. 

The only unfortunate part was that I have been having severe tummy pains the past 4 days. Diarrhoea, constant pain and tenderness around my tummy, sleep disturbances, and the fatigue and dehydration that comes with it. We think it might be a side effect of my medications as opposed to the environmental or bacterial here in Phils, seeing that the rest of the family are ok. 

As we were about to sleep last night, Kuya Ethan checked in on me, being his usual sympathetic self. 

Ethan: How's your tummy feeling, Dad?

Me: Oh, it's much better now thank you for asking. 

Ethan: That's great. Thank God. 

Erin then suddenly interjected. 

Erin: I'm just thankful... (inaudible) 

I thought I heard her say, I'm just thankful you are feeling better. But I wasn't sure, so I asked her to repeat herself. 

Erin: I said, I'm just thankful I'm not the one with diarrhoea. 

Bless her for her innocence and honesty. You can't blame her though. The last 2 times we were here in the Philippines, she got sick with diarrhoea. In the last one, she actually had salmonella and she was unwell for a fair bit. It's just funny how brutally tactless she can be.
